Passion is made of courage.
An excerpt from Sex and the Soul of a Woman (always one of my favorite read/re-reads):
Unless we are truly brave hearts, we cannot waltz with a man in a dance worth dancing.
For better of for worse, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others…parted only by death. They promise to love each other in their unlovable moments and to offer respect in time when there is not a heaping lot to admire. They literally bet the farm, and it is right that they do so, because beauty requires this kind of COURAGE. Always.
Author Frederick Buechner writes, “They say they will love, comfort, honor each other to the end of their days. They say they will cherish each other and be faithful to each other always. They say they will do these things not just when they feel like it but even..when they don’t feel like it at all. In other words, the vows they made at a marriage could hardly be more than extravagant.
